Chris has over 16 years of experience in corporate treasury management, holding key positions in The Netherlands, United Kingdom, United States and the U.A.E. He started his career as a treasury analyst at Baan Company in the Netherlands and progressed to global cash manager at Rohm and Haas Company in Philadelphia (USA). Before relocating to Dubai he held the position of Head of Cash Management at Petro-Canada, London. He is the former Group Treasurer of the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group and Al Tayer Group, both located in Dubai.

Recent achievements include the establishment of an award-winning new group treasury function at the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, including the creation of an In-House Bank, Payment Factory, centralisation of Trade Finance activities and the implementation of a Treasury Management System, SunGard Quantum. The In-House Bank is the first In-House Bank for a Family Conglomerate in the GCC. The Treasury Team at Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group won the prestigious «Small/Medium Treasury Team of the Year» Award at the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT) Middle East Treasury Awards.

 Chris is a regular speaker at corporate treasury conferences such as EuroFinance and the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT) and has spoken or been a panel member at treasury conferences in Dubai, Singapore and New York. He is also a trainer for the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT).

Recent publications include articles in Association of Corporate Treasures’The Middle East Treasurer magazine and HSBC’s Middle East & North Africa Treasury Handbook 2014/2015.

Chris is a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) and hold the Certificate in International Cash Management (CertICM). He furthermore holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commercial Economics from the International School of Economics Rotterdam in The Netherlands and a Master’s degree in International Business & Management from the University of Westminster Business School in London, United Kingdom. He speaks Dutch, English, Spanish, German and French.

Fred started his career in 1974 with KPMG in the Netherlands as an assistant accountant. In 1977, he moved to IT auditing at Amro Bank and in 1984. He joined Paardekooper & Hoffman (now Mazars), where in 1986 he became a partner, responsible for IT audit and consultancy in the area of applied IT systems. He worked for this firm for almost 20 years. During that time he formed an advisory group, which was primarily focused on implementation of ERP and other standard software systems. He co-wrote a book on security and control in an AS400 environment, which reached a fifth printing.

He also published (in collaboration with the association of I& A coordinators of municipalities) a manual for information protection for municipalities, which was put into use in almost all municipalities in the Netherlands. In addition to security advice to municipalities he also gave advice to various ministries and enterprises.

In 1997 he completed his PhD thesis on effectiveness and reliability of management information. After his PhD he gave advice to Baan Company, Cadans (now UWV), PGGM (pension fund for health and welfare), Interpay (now Equens), the Netherlands Ministry of General Affairs, police organizations, and many other organizations. He also acquired a contract for IT Audit at the European Patent Office, which was prolonged several times.

In 2000 he was appointed Professor of Accounting Information Systems (AIS) at Nyenrode Business University. Currently Fred is a Director at AIS Research B.V, an organisation that focusses on providing research, training and consultancy in the area of Accounting Information Systems, Risk Management and Internal Control. In this role he has participated extensively in project risk management of the power company Eneco.
