Cugavadi’s Chris van Dijl presented at the International Cash, Treasury and Risk Management in Asia organised by EuroFinance in Singapore from 21 – 23 May 2014.
From shared services to shared knowledge
Shared service centres evolved to centralise basic processes in low-cost locations. The success of this model led companies to channel an increasing number of business and treasury functions to their SSCs, including FX, liquidity management and payments and collections. This accumulation of functions has lowered costs and increased efficiency as intended Both risk and cash management need a significant amount of similar data to come to effective decisions. Thats’s where SSCs can really help, gathering information throughout the organisation in a systematic and timely way. This speaker argues that with SSCs you are better positioned to manage both risks and liquidity.
